Domain & Phrase Categories Beta
Not so long ago, we released a seemingly unnoticeable, yet very helpful feature for some of our most popular reports - Domain and Phrase Categories - to open beta. Whenever you research a domain or a keyword phrase, this new feature will now allow you to see which category(or more precisely, which industry) it is associated with. This is particularly handy for narrowing down your research and getting more accurate results with less effort! As of now, the new feature has been added to the Domain Overview, Organic Positions and Keyword Overview reports. Go ahead, give it a try and let us know what you think! Please note that during the beta test the Categories feature will only be available for the US database only.
Let's see how to put the Categories feature to good use by going through the reports mentioned above and seeing what's changed.
Under the header section of this report (check out its new look, by the way!), there is aa list of categories (or market industries) for the domain you're researching. Basically, the new feature only groups search requests in industry-related categories for your convenience. Clicking the 'Show Details' button will display a more detailed breakdown of the domain's categories. Clicking on any of the categories in this list will redirect you to the Organic Positions report that will only display results relevant for the chosen category.
As you can see from the picture below, we have added a 'Category' filtering option to the report.
And also, hovering your cursor over any keyword in the report will now show you which categories it is associated with.
Similar to the Domain Overview report, you'll find a list of categories under the report's header. The only difference is, the categories in the Keyword Overview report are not clickable, they're only there to show you which categories the keywords for the queried domain belong to.
Please let us know what you think of this new feature! Send your feedback to firstname.lastname@example.org. Thank you for helping us make SEMrush better!
